Course overview

This qualification gives first aiders the skills to confidently undertake emergency first aid if someone becomes ill or injured at work, and to provide effective care for a wide range of common workplace injuries and illnesses. The practical elements on the course give delegates the chance to practice their skills in a calm and safe environment. Meets the HSE’s requirements for a first aider in a medium or high-risk working environment.

Course Content

  • Acting safely and effectively during and accident or emergency
  • The treatment and care for an unconscious patient
  • Recognising and treating seizures
  • Recognising cardiac arrest and performing CPR
  • Recognising and treating shock
  • Bleeding
  • Recording accidents at work
  • Treating patients with: burns or scalds, injured bones, muscles or joints, poisoning by ingestion or inhalation of a substance or gas, an injury to the eye, signs and symptoms of a major illness e.g. heart attack
